Human Rights Violations,Democracy-Meritocracy in Greek Tertiary Education – Bullying

(Info will be updated, check “comments” for details) In the last five years I have been the target of unprecedented attacks that were blatantly ignored by legal authorities, the university, the students’ union, justice, political system. No measures whatsoever have been taken to protect me as an individual and academic. These attacks include Threats to me & members of my family(I have filed a lawsuit,as in an incident involving a car threatening to rum my vehicle my daughter was also in danger) Intimidating acts within the premises of the university.Despite my repeated requests to academic hierarchy the university has not taken any action nor has explicitly & publicly condemned these acts. Although I asked for the university senate to discuss the issue & provide a statement of support this has never happened, a very fact that constitutes a puzzle in itself. My car has been twice vandalized within the premises of the university closed parking lot. These were the only incidents that have ever taken place within the premises of the university, a fact that per se has its own semantics. The finding of a monitoring device inside my office. To this day I have not received an official response from judiciary and university authorities as to what the device was.Only an unofficial answer that is “was nothing’.To my knowledge the only witness(along with me)at the time the device was found has never been asked to testify in a legal investigation. Violation of private data and hacking of my personal page.An IT expert that looked to it told me “it was a professional job”. Continuous violation of private–family life to a degree that constitutes a blatant violation of human rights familiar only to autocratic & Soviet-style regimes. To the above one should include The request from the university authorities NOT to park my car inside the parking lot. This kind of behavior constitutes a inexplicable choice that makes me wonder why not everyone is equal in terms of having access to university facilities. Hurdles to my ability to perform my academic work,a fact that goes beyond any sensible explaining and understanding.Despite my continuous requests to the university, I spent one whole semester without access to a computer equipped with a camera & a microphone. The university simply answered that these were not available, although they were indispensable for my e-classes at the time of the pandemic. I had to improvise & use YouTube to upload a series of audio lectures. This process was time consuming and did not facilitate academic interaction. Upon continuous requests I was given a portable computer for 2 weeks(15-29/9/20)just to be able to conduct exams. The very same day my exams finished(29/9)the university asked me to return the portable, which I did. In October 2017 I had a three week sit in.I did not have classes.Instead I spent these hours at the university in my office(extra classes were offered after the sit-in.The reasons were explained in long and detailed communiqués (they are being translated into En).The basic issues were meritocracy, transparency, threats to my daughter & me and a number of criminal activities against me.I have filed lawsuits but to this day justice is not done.In a very indicative case a student asked to intervene as Head of the Department in a case of massive & extended in time cheats during exams. She printed out and gave me an exchange of messages in facebook where students confessed PUBLICLY that they were systematically cheating during the exams for years! Cheating was only possible with the support of those who were in charge within the classrooms. The student asked me to do my administrative duty, which I did.I publicized the issue, wrote articles asking for a legal investigation not to an assumed but publicly confessed crime. As one of the students wrote in facebook “I have passed many courses this way”. This simply means cheating has been a standard practice for years. Ever since I have been targeted systematically & my academic role has been greatly undermined, not to mention the reverse of the proposal to take over the UNESCO Chair of the University as “being the ideal candidate”(according to the previous rector-the letter is at my disposal) Eventually the university inaugurated an investigation against me although a the aim of publicizing these facts was to protect the institution & the exam process * FULL MEMO IN “COMMENTS”

Crisis management = Short term reaction (Yes) but we have to manage(survive) the crisis in the short term to be able to analyze it and find itsfundamental causes later on (in the long term).Crisis prevention is preferable but much more difficult. Decision-makersmay fail to understand the opponents’ dilemma. This could, undercircumstances, lead to a miscalculation > conflict
